This is part of a three part series.

A 6x6 piece using encaustics, alchohol inks and fire. I actually painted with alchohol inks and set it on fire.

Don't try this at home!

Also in the EAST show.

Interesting to use fire in the process. I was reminded of the old practice of lighting a can of paste shoe polish until it melted, then applying that to my shoes. In that case it was not alcohol burning however, but the paraffin in the polish. Encaustic shoe shine!

Encaustic shoe shine indeed, that sounds like fun and I bet it got your shoes shiny too!

Love the pattering! The 6x6 stuff looks great. It's a funky cool wall of work.

Mythos: Yes. I am fascinated with using fire. These are alcohol inks so everything burns up nicely. Also, the metallic ones bubble up and provide very cool texture.

And LOL. Ancient practice of lighting a can of shoe polish? Maybe you should start selling that. Being the artist that you are, I am sure it will be gorgeous:)

Carol: Thanks! I enjoyed making it. The 6x6 wall does look fabulous doesn't it? I hope you took a photo cause I forgot. Oh well... Next week.
