Ghost Story

I was about 5 years old when I first saw a ghost. It was an old lady who had lived across from our house and recently died. It was the middle of the night and I was fast asleep. Something woke me up. I looked around and saw the old lady by my bed. She was leaning on her cane and lifted her hand to assure me that everything was ok. I screamed and ran to my parent's room.

The odd thing is that I did not really know that lady very well. I had met her only once. But yet when I described her to my parents, I gave all the details. The necklace she wore, the bangles she had on. E.T.C.

My parents told me that I had had a bad dream but later discovered that everything I had described was accurate. But they never told me this for decades.

When I was about 35, I woke up one night and felt somone sit on my bed. The matteress dipped and I could feel someone affectionately patting my legs. But I saw nothing. I screamed bloody murder, woke up everyone and slept with the lights on.

Whatever it was, followed me for days. I would be driving and suddenly felt a presence. Someone sitting in the back seat. I would look back and see nothing. I would be doing dishes and the curtains would start moving suddenly. The presence came and left at will. For a couple of months.

I talked to my Mom about it. She told me that whenever I felt it, I should say loudly, "Please leave. I am not comfortable with your presence." It worked. It was a good spirit. But it kept coming back.

My hubby, who is a scientist, did not believe in this stuff. Yet he bought me some earings that would dispell spirits.

I never knew  what it was. Until one day my Mom told me that one of my old childhood friend had died a couple of months ago. She had just found out about it. He was on a motorcycle and a bus ran over him. The day he died was the same day as the first time I felt something. He was 36 when he died. He left a child and wife behind.

After that, whenever I felt the presence, I would address my friend and ask him to move on.

And he did.

I blame MrsUpole to get me to confess this:) Check out her ghost story if you have a minute. Rivetting.

What about you? Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever had a ghostly experience? Do tell!

I never met a ghost, but had a dream about one. She was standing in my living room. I said, "What's your name?" "Scriber", she answered. "But...but...you can't be Scriber, Scriber's not dead. I just read her blog!" She laughed scornfully, "Did you think I was going to wait 'til I was dead to come over here, and scare the hell out of you for the kinds of comments you leave on my site?" "I'm sorry, Scriber", I stammered. With that she vanished.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, Scriber, how much I love your blogs. I love, love, love them! Just please don't haunt me.

ghosts - no!
but magical, mysterious, unknown...yes!
Some of my dreams are telling stories but I realize the "truth" after a day or two when something else happens...

I am not sure why some of us are affected by ghosts, and others just go through life never knowing of their existence. I have been this way all of my life. My daughters are the same way, and the grandaughters are too. The grandsons do not seem to be affected by it, but they do believe because they have had a few "instances" or "happenings".

Someone told me that this "ghost sense" is probably inherited from my Native American ancestors and it was passed down to the female sides of the families. I am not sure if that is true, but it sounds good anyway.

I have had ghosts get in bed with me and snuggle down into the mattress. It is weird when it first happens, but then I guess you kinda get used to it. I have kicked this ghost out of the bed, but the ghost keeps coming back. They are persistent little buggers.

Wow, that was a neat story about the Hotel California. Now it all makes a lot of sense. I never knew about the ghost angle. Drugs, yes, ghost no. It looks like a really colorful place to visit. Although I am not sure if I ever want to go there.

You are lucky if you have never had to experience any evil ghosts, I really dislike evil ghosts. I have a very hard time being around them. I try to stay as far away from them as possible. I am not even sure how I know the difference, but I just somehow do.

I am glad you enjoyed my ghost story. I have a lot more of them. If you go to this posting of mine, you might like this ghost story too. Here is the link:

Mythos: LOL. That does sound like something I would do:) Too funny! And I do appreciate all your comments. They make me and my readers laugh:)

Blogitse: Yeah having a ghostly experience is not very fun. And I do believe in getting signs also. Very strange. Can't really explain it.

Nicole: Yep. Creepy. And yes my hubby is very sweet. Although I am not quiet sure he believed me. Who would blame him? Even I had a hard time believing it:)

Mrsupole: The link did work and I loved the story. So interesting. Todos Santos is a beautiful place to visit. Very very colorful. I did go to the hotel but stayed away from the ghostly places:) I am not sure if it a true story but why take chances? :)

Men usually have a harder time believing stuff like that.
Unless they see it, they just joke about it.

I don't believe in ghosts, only in the tremendous power of the human brain. I love reading your blog though!
