A Story

A while back, and I do mean a while back, Mythos, Janice and I decided to do a project together. I would send photographs to Mythos, he would create a collage, and Janice would write a story about it.

So I sent Mythos some photos and he created these fabulous collages and sent them back to me.





Janice is going to write a story about this. Or just provide words. Whatever she wants.




Once the project is complete, I'll post about it.

What is great about it is that none of us provided direction to others. I had no idea what Mythos would do with the photos and no idea what Janice will write about the collages.

I simply do not know.

And I simply cannot wait.

Lunch

Yesterday I went to have a nice lunch with my co-workers at a restaurant called Ski Shores. It is located by a river and you can arrive in a car or a boat. They have the best hamburgers in town.

I had a great time. We guzzled down hamburgers as we watched people in boats arrive for lunch. So what do these people do to support themselves? How come they are cruising along the river on a working day?

Oh well.

My friend has a gorgeous tattoo. I've been wanting one for a while but my family is vehemently opposed to the idea.

I really, really want one. I have no idea why. Certainly not for the cool factor. My birthday is coming up in July and I was thinking of getting one. I am terrified of the pain but I am sure my friend will hold my hand during the procedure.

What do you think? Should I get a tattoo? What kind? Do you have tattoos?

This is collage number 2. When Mythos and I started this project, I posted about 10 photographs. He definitely wanted the Alex photo. No surprise there. Everyone is an Alex fan. He also picked photos of veggies, a tree stump, and a photo of this blue window. When I printed these out and snail mailed them to him, I also included some really bad paintings I had done. It was more of a joke to show him what a terrible painter I am.

I never knew what to expect from him. I thought he would paint or doodle over them. But he cut up the photos and my pitiful paintings and created wonderful collages out of them.

He sent me the photos of the collages and I posted them on a blog I created for our artwork. Numerous people gave us feedback. There is no way that I could have made a decision. All of them were exquisite.

So tomorrow I ship these to the gallery. We'll see if we get in or not. I'll keep you posted.

Alex in Wonderland: 1

A while back, I asked my bloggy friend Mythos if he would collaborate with me on an art project. He asked me to send some photos to him. And he created beautiful collages out of them. They are simply stupendous.

Here is the first piece. He created 4 all together and I am planning on submitting 3 to a gallery. If we get in, fine. If not, that would be OK too. I know that sooner or later they will be in a gallery.

It was a very fun project. I am certainly planning on doing more collaborative work with him and other artists. If you are interested in participating, leave a comment.

Adventures

Sometimes gifts come wrapped in a bad wrapping paper.

Yesterday a friend of mine was let go from her job due to the economy. While this makes me very sad, I know that she has tremendous potential. Even more than she realizes. Some days I just want to shake her and tell her, "Do you realize how talented you are? Do you know that you can open so many doors of opportunities?" Every time I try to tell her, she laughs it off. She gets uncomfortable.

But now she has time to think about the possibilities. And pursue them. And I know that no matter what path she seeks, there will be exciting adventures. I am hoping to tag along on a few adventures with her.

I don't know what her next adventure will be. But I do know that she leaves behind a whole bunch of broken hearts. Including mine.

Granted I've been told that they will arrive on Friday but one can hope. Right?

I am itching to do another photo shoot. But it will have to wait at least until Sunday. Party on Friday, party on Saturday... It may seem like a glamorous life but all I want to do is go to some new place and take new photos.

So some random stuff today...

• Here is a photo of Alex that I shot. I had fun shooting it even though we shot for only about 20 minutes. I am working on a project called Artist and Muse and will submit 3 photos to a gallery. Hopefully, I will at least complete the process.
  

• Son2 came back from Los Angeles late Friday night. He went there for a debate tournament. And I am pleased to say that he survived his first earthquake! He called his brother at about 2:00 AM to tell him that. Then he proceeded to call all his friends about the earthquake. I found out in the morning and tried to surf the net for the news. It did not even make it to the news so it must have been a really small one. But for us Texans, it was a big freaking deal. We expect the ground we stand on to be... let's say... still? It don't shake in Texas. Why do people live in California?

• We went out for dinner last night to a wonderful Chinese Barbecue place. The food was delicious! It is one of those authentic Chinese places in China Town in Austin. Once you go there, you can never ever eat at the Chinese buffets. Obviously I took some photos so watch this space. I have to say that some food certainly looked different to me.
  

• Son2 ordered a coke and a water for drinks. Guess what he got? A glass with coke and water mixed in it. LOL. We were all laughing so hard!
  

• My boys have a very close friend who they call their "white bro". They've been friend since kindergarten. He is always invited to all the vacations and football games. He came with us yesterday for dinner. I call him my "white son". The three of them are very very close. You know they are close because the first thing he will do when he sees them is punch Son2. In case you don't know, that's how guys show their affection.
  

• The boys leave tomorrow for college. It's taken a while but I've learned not to turn into a weeping/sobbing hysterically mess when they leave. They come back. They do.
