Painting

Here is an unfinished version of one of the canvases I am working on.

When you can't really draw and want to paint, you have to get creative.

I n this one, I applied a base coat of orange. Then I squirted paint on the canvas and mixed it around with the back of a brush.

The mistake I made is that the base coat is not thick enough. That is a common mistake newbies make. They do not use enough paint. So now, I plan on loading up my brush with paint and filling in the areas around the circle. During the process, I will also try to clean up any other mistakes I made. Once it is all dry, I will put some glossy stuff on it and call it done.

Here is another piece I worked on.

Another mistake the newbies make is over-mixing the paint on the palette. When I first started working on this, I had no idea what it would look like. I filled up the center with a shape and once I had painted it, decided that it looked like a flower.

As far as paintings go, these are certainly not awesome. But eh... not bad for my first attempt.

I think they are pretty darn cool for your first attempt.
They had these things on sale a while back in one of our supermarkets.
You start making me regret I didn't get any :)
Keep it up :)!

Blogitse: I can see that now. Have a fantastic trip!

Sumit: I did not see it at first but now that you say it, I agree!

Mythos: Thanks for encouraging me!

Nicole: It is not really as hard as you think. Granted this piece is not great, but it is a fun learning experience!

Ah, but they are MAGNIFICENT! The way the peace sign is masquerading as a flower in bud, the textures, the allusion to naive artforms, the combination of colours ... everything. You are surely a famous artist masquerading as Scriber!
PS. I thought of the peace sign too.
